The Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) is honored to recognize Leanna Archer as the inaugural High School Student Award Winner for the 2009 Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA).
Leanna Archer - Leanna's Inc. - www.leannashair.com - St. Anthony's High School (New York)
I am currently living my dream as a CEO of Leanna’s Inc., a hair and body care products that I started when I was 9 years old in Long Island NY. Since a young age, my mom put a hair pomade that my great grandmother created and as I grew older, it became obvious to me that the compliments that I was receiving from strangers about my beautiful locks had something to do with the pomade, the more I thought about it the more it became obvious that making this recipe available could benefit both me and the potential customers. But I had to find a way to convince my parents not only to listen to my idea but to also help me accomplish it.
As a young entrepreneur, it was a little bit difficult to have people take me seriously and now they look at me like a regular business person after they hear me talk and see what I've been doing. I find customer service to be the key. As my customers were asking for different products I did my research and came with 6 other products after the original product that started the company. As I mentioned before, my customers are asking me to make sure that the ingredients of my products don't change and by doing just that, they love it and keep coming back year after year.
